HIGH HEELS GIRLS???

The other day I was casting for models at our office, and as we were meeting new people, we got a call for a magazine cover looking for great FEET! Well, as you can imagine, it was time for everyone to take off their shoes and show the toes! In fact, we did a full email blast to everyone to send us their best photos of their feet. Now, I know that we do not always think of the feet, but really they do get a lot of play. Sandal ads, shoe companies, nail companies, spas, they all use feet in their ads. When I cast, I often look at hands for our clients, but from now on, it will be feet too.
So, I started thinking about the models and how they present themselves at castings.
We get clients booking all of the time for clothing catalogs, and they ask for the models to bring shoes and sandals.
As a professional model you should have an arsenal of assorted heels, so to make things easier, I have a resource page on www.peakmodels.com where you can check out the latest heels for sale on line. Keeping up your feet is also key. So go ahead and get that pedicure. Your feet will thank you!

Summer update!

Hello Peak Models~!
Summer is here and so many of you are off on trips that we are having trouble getting you to castings! The problem is that a lot of you are not booking out!
I know it might seem that if we are not calling you everyday that there is nothing going on, but that is not the case. We submit daily, and if you are out, we need to know. Do you know what happens when you keep missing auditions? Casting directors think you are not reliable and move onto the next person. It really is a small world. Make sure to book out!

Keep it up!

Has the meeting of agents go you down? Maybe you are just not meeting the right agent! Does everyone tell you that you are "too this and too that?" Well, do not give up, go to other agencies. Remember, if you are not 5'10, do not go to a runway agency. Find out what your market is, and go with the agencies that cater to your type.

What is your size?

Do you actually know your size? Have you ever been measured?
I really cannot stress this enough. If you are planning on meeting with a modeling agency, you need to get your measurements taken. Bust, waist, and hips.
Also, do not run around calling yourself a size 2 if you have one garment in that size. You will acutally be hurting yourself, since the samples are usually not that size anyways.
There are so many women that want to appear to be a smaller size than they are, but do not realize that they need to get over it, and tell the range of sizes they wear.

Keep your business to yourself

Ok here is a big lesson. When working with a client, we are constantly trying to get you the best rates. If you would please leave the negotiations to your agency, you will do a lot better.
Have you ever wondered why you need an agency? Imagine a client having to meet hundreds of models to choose the best ones, then imagine having to deal with all of those models and all of their induvidual concerns, time constrictions, etc.
It is just not worth it to the client. They would rather pay an agency to prescreen the models.
So, my best advice is to keep your personal life to yourself. You do not need to tell the clients anything about your business or life. If they want to book you, do not start telling them when you are not available, just refer them to the agency. There is nothing worse that a model that starts telling how unavilable sheor he is to a client.. it is a big red flag.
The client will automatically just look for another model that is available. Oh, and by the way, the same goes for your agency. When I see that models constantly are not availalbe for castings, I move on to the next model that is. I know it seems unfair, but I do not have all day to chase you down, so if in the back of my mind I have the memory that a model is always difficult to get ahold of, you can bet when a client calls for a direct booking, I will not be calling the models that are hard to book. Again, it is a numbers game, and we are against deadlines all of the time, so if you want us to think of you first, then think of going to our castings first.
